Safes are becoming more popular in recent times. People are more aware of the importance of protecting original documents and valuables. As technology advances, safes have also become more secure and more difficult to open should a safe lockout occur. If you forget your safe combination, you’ll need assistance to change the safe combination so you can open the safe. If you get locked out of your safe, our locksmiths will try several techniques to open the safe:

Manipulate the Safe – The most common method for entering a safe is to manipulate the safe. Our locksmiths prefer this method because there’s no damage to the safe or its contents. We’ll listen carefully to the safe as we try to manipulate it into the opening. Don’t be surprised if you see us using a sound amplification device so we can listen and move the dial and wheels until they’re in proper alignment. We’re listening for the sound that is made when the driver pin hits the notch on the flywheel. Once this happens, we know that the unlocking process has been achieved.

Drill the Safe – The next option for getting into a safe is to drill a hole in the lock of the safe. Then a small instrument is inserted through the hole that helps our locksmiths see how the safe opens. This method is much quicker than manipulating the safe, but it does result in some minor cosmetic damage. As safes are made to be more secure than ever, this method may not work as it has become extremely difficult to bypass such security measures.

Scope the Safe – Scoping the safe is very similar to drilling. The difference is that this method uses a borescope which is an instrument that’s inserted through a hole that allows us to inspect the internal workings of the safe. We can scope out additional security measures the safe may have and decide what we need to do to bypass such security measures.

Cut the Safe – Cutting the safe should be used only when all other methods fail. When we cut the safe, we’re literally cutting off the bolts that hold the safe shut. Once this method is used, the safe is rendered useless and can’t be repaired. Although you’ll quickly gain access to your belongings within the safe, the cons outweigh the pros.
